Once the festival has come to an end we’ll be emailing everyone who purchased a ticket with a voting link so you and your party can vote for the ‘Bristol Cocktail Weekend Cocktail of Year 2023’. Your votes will be combined with the scores from our panel of expert judges to give us the winning drink. So let’s meet the 2023 judges…
Tyler Zielinski is a drinks professional who has spent the last decade working in the bar and beverage industries through a balance of journalism, consulting, content creation and bartending. He’s best known for his work in drinks journalism, writing for Punch, Class, Evening Standard, Eater, Food & Wine, Condé Nast Traveler about a range of topics from bartending technique and cocktail trends, to drinks history and more. And in 2022, he was shortlisted for the IWSC’s Emerging Talent in Spirits Communication award.
Tyler was previously a U.S regional finalist at Woodford Reserve’s Manhattan Experience bartending competition in 2019, as well as an East Coast U.S finalist for Nikka Whisky’s Perfect Serve in the same year while serving as creative director for Lawrence Park (Hudson, NY).
Drinks journalist Oli joined the editorial teams at Drinks International and CLASS Bar Magazine as a reporter in 2020, though his history with the magazines goes back to 2017 when he joined as a member of the events team. When Covid-19 put a pause on events, he retooled as a writer and has gone on to build a reputation as a respected member of the trade press.
Having climbed the ranks to web editor, Oli runs the Drinks International website and writes regular features and analysis for both magazines’ print editions.
A former Bristol resident for eight years, Charli is now residing in Brighton and for the last two and a half years has been privileged enough to bring you the Top 50 lists, including Top 50 Cocktail Bars, putting bars across the UK on the map.
Having visited a healthy number of cocktail bars up and down the country, including plenty in Bristol and attending Birmingham Cocktail Weekend several times, Charli is excited to discover Bristol’s bar talent and get a deep dive into its bar scene.
She’s pleased to be supporting a city close to her heart for a topic she’s passionate about for Bristol’s first official cocktail weekend!
