For Bristol Cocktail Weekend 2023, each venue was tasked with creating a new cocktail for the occasion, and each £6 drink was entered into the running for Bristol Cocktail Weekend’s Cocktail of the Year 2023.
We are thrilled to announce the winner !
Nunya Beeswax – Flight Club
Created by James Hutin, Bar Supervisor at Flight Club, the winning concoction named Nunya Beeswax is a blend of Herradura Reposado Tequila, Beesou Honey Aperitif, Peach Puree and Lemon, and is a truly tasty tipple worthy of the crown.
The trophy-winning cocktail has now been made available to the public, so all visitors to Flight Club can sample this special drink. It is available throughout October as a special, for £10.50, and will then be added to Flight Club’s permanent menu in the new year!
James Hutin, creator of Flight Club’s winning cocktail, said: “Winning feels absolutely fantastic. I visited a lot of venues during the event to try their cocktails and thought they were fabulous. I wasn’t expecting to win but I’m so happy that we did. It’s an incredible feeling and I hope I’ve made my team, and the wider Flight Club team, proud.”
Alongside votes from those who purchased tickets, scoring was undertaken by a panel of industry professionals from across the world. First was Tyler Zielinski, a global drinks professional best known for his journalistic works and for being a finalist in numerous international bartending competitions. Oli Dodd, a member of the editorial team at Drinks International, was the second judge, bringing his experience as a reporter into the mix. And finally, Charli Tommey completed the line-up, using the experience she has gained from managing the UK Top 50 Cocktail Bar list, amongst other Top 50 hospitality line-ups, to inform her decision as the panel worked their way through the 30+ entrants.
Living For The Weekend’s ’s Founder and Director, Alex Nicholson-Evans, said: “With so many amazing signature cocktails on offer from our participating venues, the judges and our festival go-ers had their work cut out for them to pick a winner! Bristol Cocktail Weekend was a real success and we’re thrilled that Flight Club Bristol were able to have their stand-out moment.”
The fairground-inspired venue darted its way onto Bristol’s Corn Street in the summer of 2021 as a vibrant gaming bar attracting wannabe darts champions and cocktail-lovers alike to enjoy their varied menu. Since then, the venue has gone from strength to strength and is a favourite among locals and visitors to the city.
